Thrival Festival

Challenge:

After a successful first year, the Thrival Innovation + Music Festival organizers knew they were going to organize this festival for years to come. Unfortunately, through the transition from the first year to the second year, they lost their only graphic designer in the process.

Solution & Results:

For ten months, I worked directly with the program manager and event director to create all material necessary for the both sides of the festival. This included items such as signage, logos, icons, print banners, custom digital graphics, sponsorship packages, advertising/promotional graphics, maps, presentations, website development, stickers, and t-shirts

In the end, the event was a massive success - allowing the organizers to hit six figures in revenue, reach 21 million through social avenues, welcome 12,000+ attendees throughout the week, secure dozens of partnerships, and accessed national media that spread their message across the United States.

Tyco Gas & Flame (Oldham Gas)

Challenge:

Oldham Gas (now a part of Tyco Gas & Flame) was missing key graphic design skill sets within their marketing department and wasn't able to complete either internal projects or outside department requests on a monthly basis.

Solution & Results:

Working with their Marketing Director, we were able to handle any and all requests such as: creating new marketing materials, updating / improving product guides & manuals, developing monthly email newsletters, and maintaining the website.  All of said material was often split between multiple languages (English, French, Chinese, Danish, Spanish, and German) and needed to be designed multiple times to accurately engage the international market. In the years I worked with their team, we created / updated over 200+ branded documents, produced 80+ digital campaign items, and countless other items for internal use.

The AlphaLab Gear National Hardware Cup

Challenge:

With an announcement deadline fast approaching for their newest startup competition, all that was left for the AlphaLab Gear team was to create the brand look behind it. A logo, promotion graphics, and a few website edits were needed in only a few days time before it was too late.

Solution & Results:

In a matter of days, I was able to create all the necessary brand materials following their input on a handful of design rounds, font preferences, color choices, and copy for supporting posters and graphics. The AlphaLab Gear team hit all of their deadlines (internally & with media) and was able to put a fantastic hardware competition.

Pittsburgh Penguins (Consol Energy Center)

Challenge:

Hockey entered a new era in the city of Pittsburgh with the approval and construction of the Consol Energy Center. While the arena was being built, the Penguins needed to prepare sales materials that they would eventually use to pitch to advertisers, season ticket holders, and use for their ticket purchasing systems. First project? The mapping and seating charts of the arena.

Solution & Results:

With the construction blueprints at hand and with special assistance from the lead architecture firm, I was able to identify and create a series of maps for the Penguins' usage. The sections that were included were the upper bowl seating, the private suites, loge boxes, lower bowl seating, as well as highlighting exits, restrooms, and escalators.
